You would be surprised how many grant applications are dismissed because of poor proofreading or typos made on the application. When you are applying for a business grant, you want to come across as professional as possible, and part of being professional is your presentation. So when the grant officer sees eight typos and multiple basic misspellings on an application, it is definitely giving an impression, and not really the kind of impression you want to make! When you have completed your application, run it through a spell checker. If you are filling it out online, use the spell checker in the Google toolbar or the Firefox plugin that will spell check all form fields for you. If you are handwriting it, double check the dictionary on spelling, even if you are 99% sure you have spelled a certain word correctly. And as a last precaution, ask someone to proofread it for you, incase you wrote "there" instead of "their" or made an equally obvious grammatical error.
